OPAL-RT, a Montreal company that is the world leader in real-time simulation, is organizing the 7th edition of this major event for the engineering world.
Montreal, May 1, 2014 – OPAL-RT is organizing its 7th international Real-Time user conference taking place from June 9th to 12th, 2014. After success in Paris, Las Vegas and Shanghai, this major event is returning to its roots with Montreal as this year’s location. Established in 1997, OPAL-RT is a Montreal based business and world leader in real-time simulation for power electronics, automotive, aerospace, and industrial fields. “ OPAL-RT’s mission is to reduce design, prototype and test times for complex mechanical, electromechanical or power electronics systems by providing open simulation systems that make use of the latest commercial technology » explains Jean Bélanger, President of OPAL- RT.
Real-Time 2014, an international platform
Already in its 7th edition, the Real-Time conferences generates knowledge sharing between stakeholders, thanks to the growing convergence of the industry’s biggest players. The first Real-Time conference took place in Montreal in 1998 and has since been held in some of the world’s largest cities. 16 years of innovation and 7 conferences later, RT14 returns to Montreal, home to OPAL-RT’s R&D department and headquarters, which represents a reinvestment of 20% of annual sales.
Presenters in this year’s program will focus on the continuous evolution of real–time simulation needs, its significance in terms of precision, flexibility and safety. The conference will showcase OPAL-RT’s latest technologies, with demonstrations and tests, technical presentations, and unique workshop sessions including hands-on demos jointly presented with our partners.
OPAL-RT, world leader in real-time digital simulation
With 16 million in sales in 2013 and an average growth of 20% per year, OPAL-RT is a Montreal-based company of approximately 120 employees with affiliates in Canada, the USA, Asia, Europe, and India.
Real-time digital simulation, whose calculation time is 300,000 times faster than with a traditional simulator, obtains results that are as probing and tangible as tests performed on a real model. OPAL-RT recommends digital simulation to reduce R&D costs, limit testing time, and perform more highly detailed tests; without the risk of damaging real equipment.
These simulators are used by engineers and researchers of large manufacturers, public utilities, universities, and research centres around the world. They are used to validate designs before building automobiles, planes, boats, motors, and electric grids.
Special workshop sessions with hands-on demos jointly presented with our well-established partners
OPAL-RT is working with several expert partners to deliver world-class solutions. By building strong relationships with key technology leaders, OPAL-RT is able to speed up innovation, reduce time to market, and ensure leading edge solutions. The list of official partners will soon be published on the RT14 website.
