ICAP/4 is 4th-Generation SPICE simulation technology for the design and test of electronic circuits and mixed-engineering systems design, plus simulation and firmware interface to Digital Signal Processing development boards from TI and Microchip. ICAP/4 provides complete design entry; a wealth of debugging tools; waveform viewing and post-simulation signal processing; automated fault diagnostics and automated fault-isolation test development for analog and mixed-signal design. The software is scalable and most packages include reliability and manufacturability analyses such as Monte Carlo statistical analysis, worst case, extreme value, sensitivity, and fault. Automated measurements can be prescribed across the design by the user to record - via histogram readout and min/typ/max readings - pass/fail criteria for any node or device. The DSP Designer software option uses a highly visual approach to digital control and DSP design by way of Z transformations and Bode plots for simulation and analysis of DSP. Firmware interfaces provide a means to actually drive a DSP board from the simulation environment, stimulus for DC,AC and transient analyses, then read via TEK oscilloscope resulting waveforms back into the simulation environment for comparison alongside simulated waveforms. DSP Designer also produces micro-code instructions from the simulated design and drives the DSP memory via an Integrated Development Environment loaded onto the PC.
